Prosecutors probe family linked to bribery
FAMILY MEMBERS of key government figures of the previous and present government are among a group under investigation in a bribery scandal that has already been linked to ex-president Ricardo Martinelli, and and his brother-in-law Aaron Mizrachi.
The sixth anti-corruption prosecutor has filed charges of offenses against public administration against Aracelis Roy de Jaén, Eduardo Jaen Roy and Adriana Jaén Roy, the wife and children of former National Authority of Government Innovation (AIG) Eduardo Jaen.
The charges are related to the investigation into alleged kickbacks and irregularities in the contract for the installation of software provided by the German multinational company SAP to Social Security.
Prosecutors say alleged bribes connected to the $14.5 million contract were deposited in the bank accounts of the family members.
Aracelys Roy de Jaen, sister of Minister for Canal Affairs Roberto Roy, appeared before prosecutors on Thursday May 12,. Adriana Jaén Roy is followed on Friday and Eduardo Jaen Roy is scheduled to appear next week.
Former Social Security official Carlos Tasón has also been questioned in the case.
