Traffic deaths heading for record
PANAMA’S BLOODY highway death roll added its 157th victim in 114 days on Saturday April 23 when an 86-year-old man was struck by a sedan in Chame.
Fifty four of the deaths were pedestrians including 10 hit and run.
If the carnage continues Panama is on track to surpass its highest annual total of 456, plus hundreds of injuries, including permanent disabilities.
The same morning there were three accidents in half an hour, two in Centenarrio and one in Howard involving a pirate bus, all with drivers losing control and sending people to Santo Tomas Hospital.
