African migrants refuse move to shelters
OVER 600 AFRICAN migrants found in on the Costa Rica side of the Panama refused to be moved to shelters on Saturday afternoon, April 23.
Three buses arrived ar Paso Canoas, Costa Rican side to carry out the transfer of the first group of families with children, pregnant women and the elderly, but they refused to board
The Africans protested with banners and shouted “no deportation, deportation no” and requested help to reach the United States.
Finally the Costa Rican police withdrew the buses.
Africans continue to live under awnings and plastic sheets on the Costa Rican side of the border. On the Panamanian side, riot police unit are on duty preventing their entry.
