CLIMATE CHANGE: March temperatures set new high record
LAST MONTH was the warmest March on record and the eleventh consecutive month that the record temperature has broken, an unprecedented number in 137 years of record keeping said US meteorologists on Tuesday April 19.
The global average surface temperature of the planet in March 2016 was “the highest for March in the annual statistics of the US National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration, (NOAA) since the agency began keeping records in 1880.
According to experts, the average temperature on Earth in March was 12.7 degrees Celsius, ie, 1.22 degrees above the average of the twentieth century.
“It has surpassed the previous record set in (March) 2015 of 0.32 ° C and marks the biggest monthly rise in temperature among all registered 1,635 months,” said the NOAA.
The latter temperature records illustrate the sustained acceleration in the increase of global warming.
Mercury thermometers also beat, and by far, a new record for 2015, exceeding 2014, a phenomenon that most climatologists attributed to the accumulation in the atmosphere of greenhouse gases that come from combustion oil and coal.
“Overall, the nine highest monthly temperature advances and records have occurred in the last nine months, a phenomenon that most climatologists attributed to the accumulation in the atmosphere of greenhouse gases that come from the combustion of oil and coal.
