Ex-top judge exits jail for Santo Tomas
THE DISGRACED former chief magistrate of Panama’s Supreme Court Alejandro Moncada Luna, who is imprisoned in El Renacer prison, was moved to Santo Tomas (public) Hospital, on Tuesday, April 5 says his lawyer Ramiro Jarvis.
Moncada Luna, is serving five years in prison for unjustified enrichment and falsehood, and has “chronic hypertension” said Jarvis.
He held in the semi-intensive care unit” in the emergency room, he said.
Prisoners admitted to Santo Tomas are usually moved to a public ward, handcuffed to their bed and watched over by a prison guard
In late March, the defense requested a hearing so that Moncada Luna’s health condition could be considered by the National Assembly, which indicted him.
Moncada Luna with his wife, Pilar Fernandez, bought two apartments in Coco del Mar, San Francisco, valued at $ 1.7 million, without loans or creditors.
