Wind alert follows dust storms

 A STRONG  winds alert was issued by Panama’s Civil  Protection agency (SINAPROC) on Thursday March 24.

“Windy conditions are expected IN n mountainous areas in the province of Cocle, Chiriqui and the Gulf of Panama.”  Said the message.

Earlier in the day residents in the district of Alanje in Chiriqui province, were hit by strong winds causing storms, which lifted drought stricken soil and reduced visibility to almost zero.

Residents claimed that the dust clouds had been recorded since Tuesday causing the suspension of school classes   and sending  some seniors with respiratory problems to emergency health centers.
