30,000 task force to monitor Easter exodus
A 30,000 STRONG Joint Task Force (FTC) was set to be deployed across Panama on Thursday March 24 as some 130,000 vehicles were predicted to head from Panama City to the Interior for Easter weekend.
The force includes lifeguards on beaches, 18,000 National Police Transit authority personnel and the Civil Protection Service (Sinaproc)
Panamanian authorities announced that the plan wpuld begin at noon on and last until 6 pm on Sunday. Ambulance services and hospital emergency rooms will remain on standby.
The FTC will coordinate all operations from the Emergency Operations Center (COE) will work in the Aguadulce district in the central province of Cocle.
