$10 miilion to fight zika as cases reach 156

AS THE NUMBER of recoded new cases of the zika virus continues to climb, reaching 156 on Wednesday March 23, Health Minister, Francisco Javier Terrientes, said that the Ministry may have an extraordinary credit of $10 million which will increase staff dedicated to fighting the virus.

The new cases were registered in the regions of Panama Metro, in the province of West Panama,  and the Guna Yala region

A countrywide health alert has been in place since February 16.
