Ex-Odebrecht boss ready to talk on Panama election links
THE FORMER president of Odebrecht, the Brazilian construction giant mired in the country’s biggest corruption scandal, has said said that he wants to cooperate with the investigation into João Santana, who assisted with the 2014 presidential campaign of CD candidate José Domingo Arias.
The Brazilian newspaper O Globo revealed that Marcelo Odebrecht did not answer questions posed by prosecutors Tuesday, Feb. 25 as part of the investigation into the Lava Jato case, but did say that he would be willing to cooperate with authorities over Santana.
Santana has been arrested for his links to undeclared funds that were moved through international banks, including two in Panama, using shell companies.
O Globo said that Odebrecht said he might be prepared to answer questions next week, but defense lawyers have first requested a medical of evaluation of their client.
