Ex-CD campaign guide back in Brazil to face music

BRAZILIAN João Santana and his wife, Mónica Moura, whose activities have ignited another debate relating to possible corruption linked to the Odebrecht dealings with Panama,  have arrived in Sao Paulo to face charges related to the  ever widening  Lava Jato investigation.

The pair, who worked on the 2014 campaign of CD candidate Jose Domingo Arias in Panama, were working in the Dominican Republic for President Danilo Medina, of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) but abandoned the campaign after international arrest warrants were issued.

Both were accompanied by Santana’s lawyer, Fabio Tofic.

Marcos Afonso, who was on board the plane with Santana, said he and his wife seemed calm.

“It was a quiet flight without any turbulence,” said Afonso.

Santana and Moura were taken to a police station inside Sao Paulo  airport. They were then flown to Curitiba in a police aircraft.
