St Valentine’s Day baby snatchers behind bars

A WOMAN and her cousin, the key suspects in the Valentine’s Day kidnapping of a two-day old  babyfrom San Miguel Arcángel Hospital in San Miguelito. are now behind bars

The Public Ministry reported Wednesday that it has ordered their  preventive detention.

The decision was made following  the investigation into charges against the pair. During the  investigation, police allegedly found a revolver in the Rio Abajo  apartment where the baby was found.

Sources told La Prensa  that the woman’s partner was released as it was determined that the detainees deceived him into believing that the woman was pregnant. The woman apparently underwent a series of medical check-ups, an went shopping for baby clothes, to delude  people into thinking she was pregnant.

The detainees are being held at the Department of Judicial Investigationand will be moved to prison during the week.

The baby has been returned to its family and is reportedly in good health.

The baby was kidnapped from the maternity ward Sunday morning and was recovered 14 hours later.
