Chief Justice misses OAS goodwill ambassador distinction
Jose Ayu Prado, Panama’s beleaguered Chief Justice did not receive on Friday Feb 12 the planned public distinction of goodwill ambassador for environmental justice in the Americas by the Organization of American States (OAS) in a ceremony in Washington.
This decision was made , following an agreement with his colleagues and he called for the recognition to be given given to thefull Supreme Court of Panama.
The judge , said that it was agreed that he would not be the ambassador of good will because the work and all the decisions made in court, are taken by the nine judges of the Court .
Eleven prominent civil groups in Panama had petitioned the OAS to cancel the honor for the controversial judge who is facing 13 complaints in the National Assembly.
The groups and otheeer have called on the Assembly to speed up the hearings.
