Strong winds, rain, waves alert
THE NATIONAL Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) has issued another strong winds alert for many areas of the country with gusts up to 80 km an hour causing high waves and risks of damage to roofs and power lines.
High winds, rain and three meter waves are expected on Thursday and Friday, Feb.11-12 in Bocas del Toro, Chiriqui, Veraguas, and the Gnäbe Bugle Guna Yala region.
Sinaproc Director José Donderis, said rains of various intensities would affect the province of Chiriqui, Bocas del Toro, Veraguas and the northern region Gnäbe Bugle region.
There will be sustained 50 km/h winds over the Caribbean gusting to 70 km/8 Pacific winds of 37 km / gusting to 80 km / h are expected
The high winds can generate waves of 2 to 3 meters in the next 48 hours.
Donderis warned swimmers to take all safety measures and avoid using rubber boats.
He warned that strong winds may cause removal of roofs, falling power lines, trees or other objects.
