Carnival death toll hits 8 as 132,000 vehicles leave city

THE 2016 CARNIVAL  death toll climbed to eight on Sunday Feb 7 with two more fatal traffic accidents in spite of a 10,000 srong  special  Joint Task Force to keep accidents to the minimum.

The carnival total brings the total highway deaths on Panama’s hihways so far this year to 42.

Tow trucks were kept busy as police handed out 1,474 tickets in 24 hours. Impaired driving accounted  for 62 tickets, 326 were issued  for speeding, and 212 cars were towed

The Transit Authority and (ATTT) reported that by 7:00 a.m. Sunday, at least 131.901 vehicles  left Panama City for the interior while  16,940 returned.
