Cable theft ignites cathedral fire

THE PANAMA  Fire Department was called to the Santa Maria la Antigua Cathedral in Casco Viejo on Monday February 1, after residents spotted smoke coming from the basement.

The Cathedral has been closed since the start of the year for a $12 million restoration program.

The fire broke out because of the theft or underground cables reports La Prensa.
