Cruise line hit with $200,000 fine for Coiba grounding
A CRUISE LINE has paid a $200,000 fine for one of it’s ships running aground in December while anchoring off Coiba Island.
The Maritime Authority of Panama has authorized the ship to be moved. It is owned by Windstar Pride Ltd., a Bahamas company.
The agency indicated that the investigation into the matter is continuing and the ship is still being monitored for possible environmental violations.
AMP Administrator Jorge Barakat Pitty said that the institution will continue the transparent handling of the investigation and will strictly enforce all applicable laws.
