Pirate buses to face Transit Authority checks
AFTER MULTIPLE accidents, including deaths involving “pirate” [unlicensed] buses, and ongoing protests from licensed operators and passengers, , Panama’s Transit Authority (ATTT) is finally moving to action stations.
It is planned to install check points in various parts of the city of Panama.
Transit police will check carriers to verify that they have the requirements to operate on the routes they are traveling.
Inspectors will also inspect the busitos and drivers to ensure that they comply with the requirements to provide public transport service.
