Not so magic moments for motorists
THE CLOSING of the Cinta Costera while Panama made preparations for its $1.7 million Disney extravaganza parade on Sunday December 6, added more traffic chaos to streets already clogged with Christmas shoppers and facing more when workers get their quarterly extra pay on Monday.
The first closing of the key highway was made on Friday night from 10:pm. It reopened at 5 am Saturday.
But the earlier placement of perimeter fences, portable toilets and some awnings, which began on Friday morning resulted in a vehicular jam that stretched to the Omar Torrijos Avenue reports El Siglo.
The Cinta Costera will close again at 10:00 pm on Saturday and will reopen at 5 am. Monday.
Because of the parade, which according to the mayor’s office will be attended by 600,000 , several Metrobus routes will change. Deviations are recorded on routes to Panama Viejo, Corredor Sur Corridor and El Chorrillo.
