Grain scam suspects interrogated
THREE SUSPECTS involved in alleged irregularities WITH GROSSLY INFLATED PRICESin the purchase of grain by the National Assistance Program (PAN), faced anti-corruption prosecutor, Tania Sterling, on Thursday, November 26.
They were Roberto Brin, former purchasing manager for Ricardo Martinelli’s Super 99, Julissa Stanziola and Pablo Ruiz Obregón
Stanziola is a former PAN official, while Brin is alleged to have been an intermediary between the entity and companies that received contracts from it. Ruiz Obregón was a businessman who received contracts from the PAN.
An audit prepared by the Comptroller estimated that the state was overcharged more than $12 million in contracts for grains linked to the three individuals.
