Lifting of immunity sought for Martinelli’s, wife, son
THE ELECTORAL Tribunal (TE) has been asked to suspend the immunity of former First Lady Marta Martinelli Linares and her son, Ricardo Alberto Martinelli Linares, in two investigations underway.
The wife of former President Ricardo Martinelli is listed as a witness in a case involving alleged irregularities in the purchase of Christmas gift baskets distributed by her office in 2013. Reports La Prensa.
Her son has been connected to alleged irregularities in a televised bingo game that received a concession during his father’s presidency and scooped up nearly $13 million before it was ordered closed.
They both have immunity due to the fact that they are candidates for the internal elections of the CD party.
The petitions have already been sent by the Public Ministry to the judges of the TE.
