Money laundering suspects exit detention
JONATHAN GUARDIA ANDRIÓN, son of former National Assistance Program (PAN) Director, Rafael Guardia Jaen was released from El Renacer prison on Friday, but his father, facing multiple charges, remains behind bars.
Both the son and daughter,Loraine Brigitte Guardia Juárez, remain under investigation, accused of money laundering in relation to multi-million dollar transactions made by their father while in office. The daughter was released from her cell at the Directorate of Judicial Investigation (DIJ), a week ago.
The measure of freedom for the siblings became effective after the Second Higher Criminal Court rejected the appeal by 5th Anti-Corruption prosecutor Janeth Rovetto, against bail granted by the 15th Court.
The judge ordered country detention for both and they have to report to the prosecutor every 15 days.
They were detained in August.
