Suspect in land scandal appeals jail term

PANAMA’S  Land Management  Authority (ANATI) has asked the Public Registry (RP) to return to the nation,  a 4.8 hectares plot of land listed as (finca 330313), in Juan Hombron,Cocle.

Ths lot was in the center of a scandal  involving the family of Former presidency minister Jimmy Papadimitriu.

“Rectification of the registry records was requested so that the Nation can be activated as the owner of that land”, said the ANATI.

There were changes made with the password ‘YURO’ in 14 of the properties that are in the system of the Registry,

In June 2014 an irregularity with the password was found in the finca  330313 which had been, expropriated by the nation, which allowed the land to return to the  Trapp Real Estate Corp owned by the Dimitriu family.

Robertson, ta former officer of the RP who owned the password to open the files,  faced 14 charges for making  changes and for one of them was sentenced to 35 months by  the Fifth Criminal Court.

However, a source close to Robertson’s defense reported that lawyers decided to appeal the sentence.

Her defense must support the appeal on November 11.

The source denied that Yuliana Robertson is a fugitive from justice, since the sentence is under appeal.
