OFF THE CUFF Metro Line 1 awaiting final touches
NOT ONLY hospitals and roads are on the list of “unfinished” projects of the previous administration. The Martinelli flagship Metro Line 1, opened with a triumphal ride of CD supporters past platforms packed with fellow party members although some stations were not open and the Odebrecht consortium had not even put up station names at many stops.
Now, five years after starting work and the “mission achieved” fanfare ,some Line 1 aspects have still not been finished while the Odebrecht consortium is set to work on Line 2 if no more corruption revelations fall out of the closet.
Among the missing details are pedestrian pathways pedestrians, passenger information signs, paintings and access for the disabled at some stations.
In addition, at Sugarloaf in Transístmica, even a vehicle detour is still in place.
Nicolás Real, president of SPIA, said sidewalks need to be completed so that the users of the system can move safely
