Anti-corruption prosecutors question former ministers
TWO former power brokers from the Ricardo Martinelli era (2009-2014) were questioned Friday, June 26 by anti-corruption prosecutors in separate investigations.
Frank De Lima, former minister of Economy and Finance, is being investigated by the first anti-corruption prosecutor for irregularities in the National Aid Program (PAN). He has been held in custody since May 11 and is tring to be moved to house arrest.
Former Minister of Agricultural Development Oscar Osorio was questioned by the third anti-corruption prosecutor in the case involving alleged anomalies in the failed irrigation in Tonosí. He too has been detained in a cell since June 5.
Eduardo Sequeira, the lawyer for De Lima, said the interview was conducted solely to clarify the former minister’s prior testimony.
“It wasn’t to discuss new elements, but to clarify certain points that had arisen in his declaration of last week,” said Sequeira, repors La Prensa.
