Court to appoint replacement for Benavides

PANAMA’S SUPREME COURT will meet on Monday, June 22, to appoint Nelly Cedeño to replace Victor Benavides, who resigned last week while facing coruption   charges including the selling of decisions. 

Cedeño who has been the alternate of Benavides, will serve until a permanent replacement is named by the executive.


Benavides is the second Supreme Court justice to be replaced in the past year. Alejandro Moncada Luna.convicted of unjustified enrichment, and jailed for five years, was replaced by his alternate, Abel Zamorano.
