National Theatre facing indefinite closure
PANAMA’S Teatro Nacional (National Theatre), which is falling into disrepair, will be closed on the orders of The National Institute of Culture (INAC) for an indefinite period while the Technological University of Panama (UTP) carries out structural studies on the property which dates back to 1908.
The information was released Friday, June 19 by the deputy director of the Office of Casco Antiguo, Diaz Fernando Jaramillo, who said that the analysis seeks to determine issues such as corrosion level, state of the slabs, condition of the stage, among others reports La Prensa.
According to Diaz, the chances are that if the allocation of $500,000 for repairs is approved they could be performed in the first quarter of 2016.
