A sweet beginning and a dark end
By Margot Thomas
IN THE LAST five years the CanadaPLUS Club founded in Panama, has grown to over 500 members from 26 different countries, including Panama, and along the way has created two new traditions – The annual charity concert Carols By Candlelight, and the Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre series using local actors and directors.
How many times have you uttered “I’m dying for a chocolate”? But how far are you prepared to go? In the upcoming presentation (in English) of Dying For Chocolate, the evening begins sweetly with chocolates for the audience at the Miramar Intercontinental Hotel.
But for one of the central characters of life does not end sweetly. The plot involves secret ingredients; a carob entrepreneur’s attempt to muscle in, jealousy, love triangles, and a girl’s best friend, diamonds. The audience gets to laugh a lot, enjoy some musical interludes and the chance to figure out whodunit, while enjoying chocolates and a Mirimar Intercontinental Dinner and coffee.
The play, directed by Panama TV performer Allan Wilson, still has some seats available on Monday June 22 and Tuesday June 23 starting at 7 pm
It is the Canada PLUS Club’s fourth presentation, and all have been sell outs. The cost for a fun night out with dinner, chocolates and the play, is $30 for members of the CanadaPLUS Club, $35 for nonmembers. For reservations call 6619-6890, or email clubcanadaplus@gmail.com . Your tickets will be delivered to your home or office in Panama City.
Proceeds go to the staging of the 5th Carols by Candlelight Charity concert on Saturday, December 12.
