300 held after back to school rumba
AN ALL NIGHT “back to school” rumba (party) in the Brisas del Golf area of Panama City led to the detention of 300 minors on Saturday June 6.
They were placed under the orders of the authorities after they were caught in an underground party, where alcoholic beverages were also seized.
San Miguelito authorities and the juvenile police unit ended the clandestine party that got up early on Saturday says a report from the mayor’s office.
According to information gathered by authorities the rumba had a local community board permit area, but for a birthday.
The invitation had been promoted on social networks as a rumba to mark the end of school holidays.
Those attending including some adults were told that the entry fee was $5.
Now the partiers face not only headaches, but trouble at home. The minors were held pending the arrival of their parents.
The law provides a penalty for parents of minors, out after curfew, as well as the owners of the house where parties are held
The Mayor of San Miguelito, Gerald Cumberbatch, warned that a crackdown on similar events will continue following numerous complaints from residents
