“Shop Panama” tourism program
AS MORE high end malls and, like the Soho tower on Calle 50 come on stream, the country is becoming an increasing magnet for shoppers who find the low tax rates provide an added incentive to a holiday on the Isthmus. Panama’s Tourism Authority is taking advantage of the trend and linking with Copa Airlines in a “Solo Panama” advertising campaign, promoting the country as a shopping and holiday destination for visitors from Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and the United States.
The Budget Commission of the National Assembly has welcomed the plan and approved a transfer of $2.2 million to the Authority .
