Bruce Chen retires from baseball
PANAMANIAN PITCHER Bruce Chen has announced his retirement from baseball after two unsatisfactory outings with his new team, the Cleveland Indians. The decision was anticipated as he was not being effective.
Never a super star, Chen played for 11 teams during his career.After a good START in the minor leagues, he made the jump to the majors with the Atlanta Braves in 1998.
He bounced from the majors to the minorsand back again, but until the end he continued striving.
“That example of perseverance and overcoming makes Bruce Chen a role model for anyone, especially in sports says La Prensa.
“He was the athlete who, when he could, answered the phone or an email one of the few Panamanian elite athletes will be remembered for this”
Chen also played for the Panama national team. “One thing is certain, after 22 seasons since he played as a rookie in 1994 with 143 victories in total and about 2400 innings pitched we will never forget the name, Bruce Chen”, said La Prensa.
