PAN SCANDAL: suspects cooperate to exit cells

JUAN CARLOS MARCIAGA, under investigation for his alleged link to cost overruns in contracts for the acquisition of bags of food through the National Assistance Program (PAN), has turned over bank accounts  holding $2million  to prosecutors and is cooperating with them as he seeks to move from a police cell to house arrest.

Marciaga is currently detained at police headquarters in Ancón.
He is accused of benefitting from numerous PAN contracts for food, as well as other contracts for maintenance work.
Co-defendants Roberto Carretero and Carlos ‘Caneto’ Araúz have already been released under house arrest pending the outcome of the case. They are also cooperating with the investigation.
