Movie of Legendary Panama boxer set for 2,000 theaters
HANDS OF STONE’ , the movie about legendary Panama boxer Roberto Duran will be released in 2000 theaters in the United States during the northern winter season and distributed by the multinational The Weinstein Company.
Robert De Niro and Ruben Blades have roles in the movie, along with scores of extras recruited in Panama.
Duran owns a restaurant in Panama, La Tasca De Duran where he may be seen greeting customers and where diners can watch videos of many of the scores of fights he won. He is a Panama Sports Ambassador and member of the Las Vegas Boxing Hall of Fame. A statue of the boxer, stands on Via Argentina, near Via Espana.
