Decision on accused Supreme Court Judge next week

THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE of Supreme Court Judge Victor Benavides, will be known next week when the National Assembly Credentials committee receives a final report from a sub-committee.

The report will determine whether or not a criminal complaint against Benavides alleging pedophilia, and the selling of decisions, will be accepted.
The announcement came Thursday from deputy chairman of the subcommittee, Elias Castillo, PRD, who said that he and the independent deputy Ana Matilde Gomez, already have firm positions on the case. Missing is the report of CD deputy Marylín Vallarino,
Luis Barria, a member of the Credentials Committee, suggested Castillo prepare a single report with the position of the three deputies who make up the subcommittee and the Credentials Committee will then decide whether or not to support it.
The legal firm Vega & Alvarez filed a criminal complaint against Benavides, for the possible commission of crimes against sexual freedom and sexual integrity, against the public administration and other crimes incurred.
The complaint was sent to the Credentials Committee on Wednesday, April 22 along with the complaint was a hand written letter from Vincente Caballero Zamorano, former head of security for Judge Benavides.
Caballero Zamorano is currently serving a sentence of 15 years in prison for kidnapping and robbery of the mother of the Judge.
