Two killed in Veracruz plane crash
A FLYING instructor and his pupil from Chiriqui, were killed on Monday, April 20, when their twin-engined Piper Seminole plane crashed into the Cerro Cabra hill in Veracruz and exploded.
According to early reports Panama’s Civil Aviation Authorities(AAC) said the plane,,which had flown from David was supposed to land at Albrook Marcos A. Gelabert airport, .but, shortly before the crash, the pilot asked for permission to land at the Panama Pacifico airport.,for landing and take off practice.
On taking off the plane turned left .. AAC director Alfredo Fonseco said planes must turn right on take off at Panama Pacifico.
A later report gave a conflicting view, saying that the pilot had radioed that he was experiencing problems and requested permission to land at the Panama Pacifico but the plane never arrived, crashing in a remote area of Cerro Cabra.
The investigation is continuing.
The removal of the bodies was supervised by the public prosecutor’s office and the Civil Aviation Authority. Police and officials from the naval air service (Senan) were also at the scene
Oriel Reyes, Senan director of search and rescue operations, told local media that intense haze has made it difficult to work.
