Ex-police chief facing weapons charges
GUSTAVO PÉREZ the former director of the National Police and former director of the Council of National Security left his cell in Renacer Prison on Thursday, April 15 to answer questions from the Fourteenth Prosecutor about the weapons found in his home during a police raid.
They were considered weapons of war, including a machine gun. Perez was transferred from La Gran Joya prison to El Renacer, because of concerns for his safety, according to his lawyer.
He faces charges of illegal possession of weapons in addition to charges relating to his involvement in illegal wire tamping of 150 politicians, journalists and judges.
