As Panama judges meet, Martinelli flies to join gang of thieves”

WHILE the judges of Panama’s Supreme Court readied themselves for a special session to decided whether to admit a criminal complaint against former Panamanian president Ricardo Martinelli, on Wednesday, January 28, he was on his private jet  bound for Guatemala.

Martinelli plans to participate in the regular session that began this week of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), whose headquarters is in the Central American nation.
He left at 9:19 am; along with Alma Cortés,former Minister of Labor Charlotte del Carmen Bronzino and Sebastián González.
Martinelli who once denounced Parlacen as the refuge of a “gang of thieves,” flew to join it as a deputy the morning after his presidential term ended.

On Wednesday he requested in writing to the Parlacen President ) Armando Bardales, an explanation of the privileges of  a deputy in that body. While in Guatemala, Martinelli referred to the case of his former presidential private secretary Adolfo ‘Chichi’ De Obarrio, accused of embezzlement and who will be interrogated by the -Second Anti-Corruption prosecutor as part of the investigation into the $45 million purchase with overruns of dehydrated food through the National Assistance Program (PAN)

Martinelli described the move as irrational and illogical
He also said that after his trip back to Panama. “I have nothing to hide”. Meanwhile
De Obarrio is in the United States, according to his defense lawyer.
It is reported that Martinelli’sout of country trip includes Guatemala and  the United States. The names of people with whom he will meet have not been released.
