OFF THE CUFF: Ex-police boss doesnt like his accommodation
THE DEFENSE lawyer of the former director of the National Police and former executive secretary of the National Security Council, Gustavo Pérez, has petitioned for his client to be placed under house arrest instead of being held in a cell at the headquarters of the Directorate of Judicial Investigation (DIJ), which at one time came under his command .
Pérez has been, preventively detained since early January 12, while being investigated for alleged commission of the crime of inviolability of secrecy and right to privacy.
Armando Fuentes, filed a notice with the prosecutor Marcelino Aguilaron on Wednesday afternoon, January 14 .Earlier in the Perez and fellow detainee Alejandro Garuz, were taken under tight security to Santo Tomas hospital for medical checks. That visit was followed by medical examinations at the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences. Immediately after they were returned to their cells.
La Prensa reports that,according to sources, Perez fears for his safety and “is being subjected to physical and psychological abuse in the cell as he is kept shackled hand and foot, and has not been allowed a change of clothes since the day of his detention “.
