Molinar facing corruption, fraud and embezzlement charges

 SECOND Anti-Corruption Prosecutor has filed charges of embezzlement, corruption and procurement fraud against former Minister of Education Lucy Molinar (2009-2014).

The announcement was announced at a Wednesday, January 7,  press conference called by prosecutor Lizzett Chevalier.
Prosecutors are conducting investigations following a comlaint into the buying of 600,000 school bags at a cost of $12 million through the National Assistance Program (PAN).
The complaint was lodged by the Panama Teachers Association (ASOPROF).
According to the prosecutor, it was determined that there was overrun in acquiring backpacks. Furthermore, it was found that members of the boards of the three companies that participated in these contracts were the same.
Chevalier said that the three alleged crimes being investigated are corruption, fraud and embezzlement.
Molinar’s interrogation will begin on January 14
