Electoral prosecutor loses immunity
THE JUDGES of Panama’s Electoral Tribunal (TE) have agreed to lift the immunity enjoyed by its prosecutor, Eduardo Peñaloza, at the request of the Attorney General’s Office.
The three judges also decided to voluntarily waive their own immunity.
Thw National Bar Association has filed a complaint against Peñaloza for alleged breach of duties. He was frequently condemned during the 2014 election for lack of action over complaints about the activities of Democratic Change (CD) candidates, and at times ignored summonses to meet with the TE judges.
