Mounting pedestrian death toll near overhead crossings
THE DEATHS of two women hit by cars within on the same stretch of road in Brisas del Golf, San Miguelito highlights the growing number of pedestrian deaths when overhead crossings are nearby.
‘’Many people risk their lives daily, crossing under the pedestrian bridges. Some prefer to play with their lives for fear of being assaulted. Most of the bridges are unsupervised and lights on at night; others ,are too lazy to go upstairs and prefer bullfighting vehicles’’ says El Siglo.

Transit Operations management says the victim was run over by a grey Toyota Yaris.
A previous death on José Agustín Arango occurred four days earlier at 8.45 pm when a woman of white complexion, in her 30s, was hit about 75 meters from the pedestrian bridge located opposite the San Pedro area # 2 .
She was hit by a BMW driven by Cusmirt Selpúlvera, 45.
In December a senior police officer listed five pedestrian deaths that took place on one weekend, within meters of crossovers.
In 2014 Panama recorded 426 traffic deaths. So far in 2015 four women have died in accidents.
