Dams spill water alert as lakes fill up

THE GATUN and Alajuela lakes have reached their maximum operating level says the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) and warns communities located on the banks of rivers and reservoirs of the waterways to stay alert for siren warnings that spill water is being releasedfrom the Gatun and Maddem dams as a preventative measure 

The siren warnings will be used for the rest of the rainy season and communities must be attentive to the sound of sirens that warn of the operation opening the dam gates, says the Canal Authority.
