Nine people bitten by vampire bats
NINE PEOPLE have been bitten by vampire bats in two disticts of Los Santos said The Ministry of Agricultural Development on Sunday, November 23.
According to a Ministry report a person was bitten in La Candelaria, while eight people were bitten in Cañafistulo.
Attacks on livestock were also reported in Lajamina.
Ministry official Rodrigo Vega said that the increase in attacks is due to the expansion of cattle ranching in the area.
He said there is a bunker in the area, built during World War II by the United States Army, that is the home of the bats. But he said that wiping out all bat colonies is a bad idea since some of them eat insects, which is good for the environment.
