Mi Bus union replaces leadership

EMPLOYEES of Mi Bus, the company which operates Panama’s public transport bus system, met in Sunday November 9 in Los Pueblos and voted to change the leaders of the union that represents them.

Employees were upset with the previous administration, saying they were not militant enough and were too closely aligned with the company.
Antenor Guadamuz will be the new general secretary, and Eric Grajales will be the deputy secretary.
The election was supervised by the Ministry of Labor, which certified the results.
Workers are demanding Mi Bus respect their rights as it gets ready to turn over operations to the government.
The workers also sent a message to President Juan Carlos Varela to demand the government do the same, and reminded him of his campaign slogan, “People First,” reports La Prensa.
