Ministry transparency moves welcomed

CIVIC GROUPS concerned about transparency issues have welcomed a move by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Panama (Mici) which has published on its website, the resumes of management and middle management of the institution.

The site gives a summary of the professional life of the 50 highest-ranking officials of Mici which has some 20,000 workers on the payroll.
Within the document, in PDF format, it is shown that the file will be updated and published every month reports La Prensa.
The president of the Foundation for the Development of Civic Freedom, Ramon Ricardo Arias said that this action should be replicated by other institutions.
“Any measure to improve transparency in governance is welcome. All the institutions should try to regain the confidence of the public and then proceed with the automatic disclosure of contracts, grants and any events which affect or could affect your performance, “he said.
The current Transparency Act requires public institutions to publish information on the hiring and appointment of staff, payroll, expenses, travel costs, and emoluments
