46 children infected with chickenpox
AN OUTBREAK of chickenpox has been reported in schools in San Miguelito with 46 cases cnfirmed in the past three days said the Ministry of Health (MoH) on Friday, August 29.
According to an epidemiological report, the cases are distributed in the primary and secondary schools, which have a total student population of 1,108.
The ministry has recommended any student with symptoms, including fever, itchy skin or a rash, to seek immediate medical attention. They must also immediately contact the school. The MoH has called on teachers or administrative staff who are suffering from the disease to remain in their homes until the symptoms completely subside. Chickenpox is a disease that is easily transmitted. The ministry is offering vaccines to prevent the spread of the disease.
