Nearly 15,000 exit Martinellis CD Party
MEMBERSHIP of the CD Party led by former President Ricardo Martienlli. Has fallen by 14,506 since the May elections. Other parties have lost small numbers but the Partido Popular Party (PP), bucked the trend and added 613 members.
In total, 17,027 left political parties since the election.
The enrollment of the CD fell from 458,775 members in February to 444,269 members on June 30, according to figures from the Tribunal Electoral.
With this amount of members, the CD – founded in 1998 by Martinelli – has the second-highest number of members behind the PRD.
The PRD has lost 1,351 members and its enrollment is now 454,536.
Meanwhile, the Panameñista party lost 261 members, and its enrollment is 215,396. The Molirena party went from 112,004 members to 111,064, losing 940 members.
The Broad Front for Democracy went from 51,314 members to 50,732 members.
The PP had 21,506 members in February and now has 22,119.
