Lavitola had great friendship with Martinelli – Berlusconi
FORMER Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said Thursday June that Valter Lavítola was the person who “facilitated business relations between Italy and Panama” in the case involving alleged bribes demanded of the company Impregilo by Panamanian officials.
Berlusconi said that Lavitola, the only person accused in thecase, “facilitated relations between Italian companies and the Panamanian officials” and that he maintained a great friendship with President Ricardo Martinelli.
The trial is being held in the sixth section of the Court of Naples.
“It was (Lavítola) who facilitated relations between the companies of Italy and Panama,” Berlusconi said. “He was a friend of the leaders of the (Latin American) area.” Reports La Prensa.
