TWO ADULTS allegedly linked to the murder of two English teachers in Chitré were arrested in Farallon, Coclé, on Tuesday, June 10. Prosecutor Nursy Peralta said there may be additional arrests. Last week a minor who was linked to the murders surrendered to authorities. The victims of the May 25 murder were Edgardo Ríos, 43, who taught at Padre Segundo Familiar Cano Secondary School, and Rubén Burgos, 28, who worked in Chepo.

FARMERS  in the Azuero region have blocked the area around the office of the Governor in  Las Tablas, and local highways  with tractors to protest lack of government response to the marketing of 150,000 bushels of corn. Valentin Dominguez, president of the Los Santos Corn Growers Association said if there is no response to their they will continue the protests.

ROBBERY – Ana Giselle Rosas de Vallarino, a CD Deputy-Elect from Chiriquí, whose election has been challenged has reported a robbery at her residence in Ancón on Tuesday night.She said the suspects broke into the home at about 7 p.m. while she was there with her children and stole purses and computers, among other ítems.The politician is part of a disputed race in the 4-6 circuit, where she defeated her cousin, Deputy Jorge Alberto Rosas. Rosas has appealed the result.

A LAWSUIT to void the contract between transit agency ATTT and Sonda, the company that handles the finances of the Metro bus was accepted by The Supreme Court on Wednesday, June 11. It Contreras, Gloria Herbert and Delcy Arce.It was admitted on May 29 by Abel Zamorano, alternate for Judge Alejandro Moncada Luna. Judges Luis Ramón Fábrega and Víctor Benavides also heard the case.  ATTT Director Roberto Moreno now has five business days to respond with an explanatory report.

PANAMA lost out  Wednesday June 11 to the Colombian city of Barranquilla in its bid   to host the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2018. Panama, which had planned to spend $250 million on the games tied with Barranquilla in the first round of voting but lost 5-4 in the second round. The voting took place in Veracruz, Mexico.
