Panameista and PRD secure by-election seats

PANAMEÑISTA  candidates were victorious in two by elections and the PRD in a third on Sunday, June 8, in Chitré, Herrera,  Los Olivos, Los Santos and Piña, Colón.

In Chitré PRD candidate Augusto Gonzalez received 2,202 votes to defeat CD candidate Edwin Marquínez, with 1,759 votes.

In Los Olivos, Panameñista candidate Arcelio Calderón received 529 votes to defeat Edy Mendoza, of the PRD, who had 379 votes.

In Piña, Colón, Panameñista candidate Macario Solís Nereira won with 374 votes against Partido Popular candidate Luis A. Camargo, who received 278 votes.
The elections were held because the candidates were tied in the general elections on May 4.
