Former spy boss in Panama may be looking for another hideout

FUGITIVE and former spy boss spy boss, currently under asylum is Panama may be seeking refuge in another country Colombian prosecutors believe.

The Upper Tribunal of Bogota has suspended the hearing on the passport situation of Maria del Pilar Hurtado, former head of the Department of Security, who is living in Panama. The hearing was postponed until Monday.

According to Colombian newspaper El Tiempo, there was no lawyer to represent Hurtado.
On Thursday June 5, a lawyer for Hurtado said that he could not appear. Therefore the court asked the Ombudsman to send to a public defender but, no representative was assigned..
Prosecutor María Victoria Parra described the postponement as "very worrying" because "there are reports that Maria del Pilar Hurtado is trying to get out of Panama and take refuge in another country."
Hurtado is facing criminal charges in Colombia related to illegal surveillance carried out on judges, journalists and opposition politicians.
The hearing is being held to ask the Foreign Ministry not to renew Hurtado's passport so she can't travel.
